Curriculum Vitae :
I was born in 1965 in LANDERNEAU (France).
As a child, I was already busy with art and drawing, I took my first lessons of oil painting as a teenager. Eventually, my love for ocean and travel, led me to a job of hydro-oceanography engineer.
I have studied ocean streams for about fifteen years…but I didn’t forget my passion and I went on practicing various techniques of painting during my spare time.
In 1999, I chose to settle with my family in CLEDER, a small village at the seaside of the north wild coast of French Brittany. My painting was inspired by this magical place and rapidly my passion had the upper hand: in 2003, I stopped to operate as an engineer to devote myself to artwork as an inner necessity.
In 2004, I have discovered pastel that has seduced me at once. I love the sensuality of direct contact with the material, and nothing compares to pastel on rendering light effects.
I have taken part in professional exhibitions since 2006. My favourite themes are landscapes, sunsets, flowers, still-life and portraits.
Light and poetry are my two key words to achieve inner peace. I use them through the prism of nature to fulfill this quest for truth. Increasingly, I wonder about the relationship between human being and nature. At a time when environmental issues are central to our concerns, I try to return to the viewer, the beauty of nature and the emotions it provokes, and make him interrogate himself about the vulnerability of the planet.
I try to give a poetic and allegorical key to my compositions, like the nineteenth century Romantic painters who inspire me. They wanted to continue to believe in the romantic utopia that wants to reconcile modern man and the elemental nature.
“It is the sky that makes the earth so lovely at sunrise, and so splendid at sunset. In the one it breathes over the earth the crystal-like ether, in the other the liquid gold”
Thomas Cole [1801-1848]
